Portraits on the East Landing

Many of you will remember the portraits on the East Landing where the cleavage of the Lady had
been very obviously over painted no doubt to overcome Victorian sensitivities. The portraits have
moved into the Long Gallery and been replaced by a new painting by Sargy Mann. We have also
taken the opportunity to put the cleavage back into Cadhay and have hung a portrait of Dawn
Addams in the Dining Room returning James Reibey to the Long Gallery. Dawn was the lead
actress in Charlie Chaplin’s A King in New York (1957) and amongst many other roles she was
the leading lady in episodes of the Saint starring Roger Moore as Simon Templar. Dawn was my
father’s half sister and married Vittorio Massimo, Prince of Roccasecca, in 1954 and Jimmy White in 1974 until she died in 1985.
